How many people have heard it said that "We are not under the Law, but under Grace"? I have heard it, and I am sure that you have, too. BUT...... there is just ONE little catch here...... That only applies to believers. It is believers in the perfect and completed work of Christ on the cross that are not under the Law, but under grace. This does not apply to unbelievers. For an unbeliever, the Law is still in full force and effect, as Paul tells us, "Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God." (Romans 3:19) This verse tells us that all the world is under Law, so that all may be accountable to God. But Paul also teaches us that for believers, "the Law was our schoolmaster, to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (Galatians 3:24) But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (v. 25) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (v. 26)

So, believers were once under the law, that "every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God". But, once we believe the gospel of our salvation, we are "in Christ" and no longer under the Law. How awesome is that? Because HE died for us, was resurrected, and ascended into heaven, we no longer face the law of sin and death, but are given life.

It is an awesome God that we serve!

That's a great post! Reminds me of Romans 10:4...

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Your distinction between those within CHRIST, and those without, is made very well. Until I became "accepted in the Beloved," I was condemned by the law I could not keep, because it pointed out my thoroughly ugly life. Now, as a believer, "all things are lawful" for me to do, because the law is no longer applied to my life, I am not under it, and am not bound to keep it. My righteousness--and it is mine--is found elsewhere, namely, in the Person of JESUS.

What Would Jesus Do? He would have ignored you, you're a Gentile!      Now aren't you glad He sent Paul to the world with a message of grace!

Hey Mac!

I was prompted to post this subject when I heard an unbeliever tell me that we were not under the Law, but under grace. I did ssome reading up on it, and told him that he was not under grace until he came to grace through faith in Christ. He maintains differently, but the truth is there in black and white....

I only have one question..... every time that I read one of your posts, there is a different photo of you. How do you do that? It is like you have a slide-show program that changes your photo every time I click on something that you posted. I don't know how you do it, but it sure does tickle me to no end! I get lots of laughs...
