Hello, all.
This is one fantastic site / Forum. I really enjoy reading the conversations and thoughts of fellow grace believers and have passed it on to several friends and family members. It's nice to know there are like-minded people in the world--even if there aren't many to be found in the church [building] on Sunday mornings.
Although I've only just begun perusing this site over the last couple days and find many good and beneficial topics, there is one topic that that seems to be silent: a discussion on the KJV, the Authorized Version [derived from the Majority Text] versus ALL other modern versions [derived from the Minority Text] (and that would include the New King James Version). At least, when I did a search for "KJV Only," nothing was found. Or, am I missing something?
It seems to me one would need to have absolute confidence in the integrity of the text claiming to be God's Word would be foundational in studying so as to be that "workman that needeth not to be ashamed."
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

Hi there, and thank you for the kind words.
While we USE the KJV, we NEVER make it a point of division in the Body of Christ. We preach and teach the MESSAGE and don't make an issue of what translation is used.
Since so much division in the Body has occurred over this and other issues NOT relevant to the message, we simply don't feel it necessary to rehash an already worn out topic.
Continue learning and growing in grace and major on the majors.
We won't argue or broach that topic here.
Ephesians 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "Only" in my subject line. I know it can be one of those 'fighting words' and I didn't mean it to be. Maybe "Perfectly preserved Word of God for English-speaking people" would have been more succinct and concise. From what I've seen on your website thus far, the information throughout appears to be quite trustworthy and most beneficial. Bible study has become the joy of my life since learning of the dispensational view of studying the Bible rightly divided. Wonderful truths have revealed themselves and seeming contradictions have dissolved.
One of those truths is how highly God views and protects the words that He has given to holy men to record for our edification.
Psalms 12: 6The words of the LORD
are pure words
: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7Thou shalt keep them, O LORD,
thou shalt preserve them
from this generation
for ever
.
Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone, but by
every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
2 Timothy 3: 16
All scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Revelation 22 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
If any man shall add
unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And
if any man shall take away
from the words of the book of this prophecy,
God shall take away his part out of the book of life
, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
I agree there is much division in the Body of Christ; and majoring on minors can cause added problems. However, since it appears God's Word
IS
'major' to Him should it not be one of our 'majors' too? With a forum such as this, it just seemed a natural venue to discuss, not argue, information that the Adversary would like to cast doubt on and make "a minor." "Yea, hath God said?"
We are created with a free will to make our own choices. But with the plethora of translations flooding the market, how can someone make an intelligent choice, aside from what the advertising agencies would have us believe, without facts about the options to choose from? Would it not be a great service to fellow believers to at least share the fact that "translations that differ" are not the same?
Thank you for your consideration.

We feel that the material provided here is sufficient to equip the saints quite well, but thank you for your suggestion.
As I stated before, we prefer to keep the focus on the message and not on those things that satan uses to DIVIDE the Body.
Please feel free to contribute anywhere you see a topic that interests you and may you grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace and Peace.

Hi Jan, and welcome to Grace Teacher Ministries! Christine is quite correct. The important thing here is the message of grace taught by the apostle Paul (OUR apostle!)
Although I myself use the Authorized (KJV) Version, it is worth noting here that even in the Authorized Version, there can be discrepancies. This is not for argument's sake, but for your edification...... here is something I did NOT know, until I read a great book called The PLOT by Bob Enyart. It is the result of a 25 year study of God's word. In it, he points out that the text in 1 John 5:7 has a fictitious ending, to add credence to the Trinity, as if the word of God could not stand on its own.
It reads "For there are three that bear record in heaven; the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth; the spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one." Everything from the word 'heaven' until the end of that sentence has been added. So, it should read as follows:
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, and there are three that bear witness in earth; the spirit, the water, and the blood: and these three agree as one."
As I said, only for your edification. The IMPORTANT thing is the MESSAGE! Grace, not Law! What the Lord Jesus REALLY accomplished at the cross!
If you have not read it already, I HIGHLY recommend The PLOT! It SHOULD be required reading for anyone that wishes to follow the Risen Christ!
Bless you, sister, and welcome to our family!

" At least, when I did a search for "KJV Only," nothing was found. Or, am I missing something?"
I have read through this thread about KJV only and noticed your comment about not finding anything about it when you searched for something on KJV only. I offer these sites which can be helpful to coming to your own conclusions on the matter.
One is well served by reading for themselves what the KJV translators had to say about their translation and not giving full assent to what people on both sides of the issue have to say, but become fully persuaded in your own mind, as someone once said(Rom 14:5).
It is essential to understand how these KJV translators felt about their translation
before
you can judge what contempoary men now say about it. What better way to do that than to read for yourself what the KJV translators had to say to the readers(you)? The following sites give this information-
