I was under the impression that Paul could speak lovingly, but still  not compromise the truth.

We have these verses:
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 Tim 2:24-26

And then we know Paul must of had the fruit of the Spirit....

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance (self control): against such there is no law.
Gal 5:22

So, I'm thinking Paul was able to teach in love and patience and self control.....
doesn't mean compromise, but telling the truth (Paul speaking boldly.... telling the truth)
We can speak the truth and either people will listen and understand or think us fools........
Jesus turning over the tables was in Israel and He was dealing with Israel....... Paul didn't handle things that way in this dispensation......
Am I understanding this right?

YFIC,  Lu

Yes, Lu, you are. Paul indeed tells us how to speak the truth, but in the everyday nitty gritty it is easy for any of us to fall into the category of "well, if people didn't respond well to you or got angry, then YOU must not have said it lovingly."  See what I'm after here?  Nowhere does it say that people will RESPOND lovingly or in a civil manner...we are only responsible for our presenting the truth in the best way we know how and leaving THEIR response up to them. Don't take responsibility for someone elses response.

Does that make sense?

It makes sense to me.

I was not talking about the people's response to us and the message of grace...but of our response to them, who don't respond nicely to us.   That was my point.  LOL

We are to respond with patience and longsuffering, with joyfullness.   Grin

Yes, I see what your saying.......
I'm not taking responsibility for her response.... I'm not a good speaker and wondered if I should have used the word formula or not........

You used a word that everyone would comprehend, lu.

You tried to let her know that you knew of a way that could help her understand the Bible BETTER, and she knew what you said and simply wasn't interested. Many want to be "religious", but have no interest in what God has revealed in His Word, and her answer revealed THAT very clearly.

Those who are seeking are those who will find ....always remember that. If they aren't seeking, no matter what you say to them, they aren't going to accept it. Thats why its important to realize that our responsibility isn't to make them understand it, but to simply deliver the truth. The Holy Spirit will do the rest. Spiritual battles require spiritual remedies, and if faith comes by hearing, then we just have to make sure they hear it. When it will CLICK for them is up to them and God.

I think its just downright awesome that God lets us take part in the process at all, don't you? I mean, He includes us in this highly critical collection of events that will somehow lead to another human being having their eyes opened! He uses us, flaws and all, to minister life changing truth to others just like us...hopelessly flawed themselves.  He puts us all together into ONE NEW MAN with a new identity and a brand new destination while reconciling us to Himself.

If that don't make yer jaw drop, I don't know what will! Grin

God doesn't look for "good speakers", but for those who have a heart for communicating helpful information to others...and you fit the bill just fine, sweetie.

Speaking of politics, lol.  I just emailed my councilmember asking him why they allowed a sexually oriented business to operate in a strip mall so close to our high school and grade school.  And why it did not go through a conditional use!!

I don't know what will happen, but I pray that they do something about this.

Well goodnight all!!

Love ya's!

You know, ladies, speaking the truth in love does NOT stop people from accusing you of cuttting up the bible; picking and choosing; worshiping Paul, denying the power of the Holy Ghost; and any and all myriads of things. Johnny and Christine's friends' response to what they were told is the rule, rather than the exception, it seems to me.

if believing in direct revelation from Christ makes me an outsider, then so be it. I have earned a place among the heathen in the eyes of my former church family, it seems; as well as in the eyes of some of my own family members. Will that stop me? No. I will keep on "making men see what is the fellowship of the mystery".

It is a simple message........ it is a message of love........... kindness........ generosity. WHY is it not received with joy, and great gladness of heart?

What was once hidden in God, and then revealed by Christ; is now somehow hidden from men by Satan, even though it has been written in God's word for almost twenty centuries. How sad is this?

Putting the shoe on the other foot.... What if I had been going to a certain church for years, thought the pastor knew everything and was teaching correct then probably I would be like them in BOC's story..... If someone had told me there was a mystery or a secret, probably red flags would go up and I'd think that person must have found some weirdo cult or something......
If I had to put together a book, I'd probably call it, "A Wonderful Bible Study for Today, Learning Turth in Our Beautiful Scriptures.... They would find out then that there was a mystery.  It's good for people to discover on their own.....
Mari - I appreciate knowing that it took you a long time to listen.
And NewDawn - I can sure understand what you were saying, when you wondered why the nuns weren't happy.  That has always been a concern of mine about pastors.
