 Brian said:

"JESUS said that upon this rock I will build my church. That was addressed to Peter and NOT Paul. Paul is a law unto himself that is very far from what Jesus taught."

My response:
You are absolutely CORRECT. Jesus in His earthly ministry said that He would build His church on Peters testimony of who He was...The prophesied Messiah and King of the Jews. The only church being built at the time of Jesus ministry on the Earth was the KINGDOM church which was comprised of Jews under the law of Moses and following the gospel of CIRCUMCISION. Paul was persecuting THIS church!

To follow the RISEN Christ, which is who gave DIRECT REVELATION to the apostle Paul for a NEW church (church simply means a group of people called out for a specific purpose), you MUST follow Paul, as Peters church was SET ASIDE due to UNBELIEF by God Himself.

God now is operating in the age of GRACE...not in the age of Peter.

To enter into Gods salvation today one must follow the gospel given to Paul for we who will follow after him, as HE is the apostle of the Gentiles today (that includes jews as they are now relegated to the status of all other unbelieving nations) with the ONLY gospel that saves, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as Gods ONLY means of reconciling us to Himself.

Acts 13:39 And by him (Jesus Christ RISEN as preached by Paul) all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

The above verse shows that obviously, when Peter was preaching the gospel of the Circumcision for salvation that it was that which was the law of Moses. This tells us specifically that something changed and that this was no longer the gospel that saves TODAY. Paul was given a gospel which tells us this:

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Peter preached this under the OT, Kingdom gospel:

Acts 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Paul preached a change:

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Something changed. NOT the same thing...in fact just the opposite.

Funny how Scripture clears things up , isn't it? There ARE two programs that we are shown in the Bible, and we are to recognize that we are NOT under Peters gospel today.

Hi Christina,
Did Brian get what you said?  I know the Catholics always bring that scripture up, my parents used too, and they even thought that Peter was the first pope, as you know.  They at the time, didn't read what the word said but what the Catholic church say's.

That's the problem with Catholics, they go by what their church says.

Hi Christina,
Did Brian get what you said?

Hey there, Diana. Did Brian "get what I said?"  I wish I could tell you and that is a wonderful question to ASK as it brings about just what our responsibility IS with sharing the gospel with people. All we are asked to do is to tell the truth; present it in the best way we possibly know how, and LEAVE THE RESULTS to God. Planting seeds is a tedious chore as we don't SEE results til the seed has had time to germinate and grow. Some seeds fall on receptive ground, and some fall on rocky soil, remember the parable?

I have had people come back to me MONTHS later, and even YEARS later and tell me that something I said to them was "germinating" for all that time and then they finally SAW. Some never tell ya, and some it never happens.

Keep throwin' out that seed, and God will see to it that it gets watered by someone else and eventually someone will actually get to SEE the results of what many have done along the way by being FAITHFUL. We will all get the same reward...aint that KEWL?

Yep...they need to see what GOD says and reflect on the difference...amen? Wink

I've been talking to a gal the other day.  She professes to be a Christian, but on this particular thread, she is always talking about how she is having a hard time surrendering to God and how things are coming against her and that she is needs to pray more and read her bible more.

The other ladies who are the same as she is, just tell her that it's hard to surrender and that the enemy is trying to do this to her.

Well I felt bad for this lady, she is where I was at a few years ago.  I have lurked and read her posts, but found the right time to pm her about her situation.

So I explained to her about law and grace, and just praying for her.  I told her she can pm anytime if she had questions, and if she does, I will lead her here.

Oh and, my dad, the part time Catholic and part time professing Christian.

The other day he was talking about the Lord, then he makes this statement.  "Well we won't know if were saved until the last day"  I said, what!  So I explained to him about salvation, it's about BELIEVING and not anything else.

For some reason, he just can't get that out of his head.  I don't understand him.  But of course, I have to give that over to the Lord.  I know that's what you're going to tell me, lol!!  Wink

Oh gooody. I always love to deal with those who have been under the burden of "performance based" religion....its so much fun to see them set free from that HORRIBLE burden they cart around in their little red wagons!

People need to see that its NOT about US, its about HIM and what HE did.

Once you can get them to really dig their teeth into THAT truth, things start happenin'
