Can you see how "faulty comments" with no scriptural support for YOU in this age of GRACE can be confusing? Be sure YOU know what the gospel IS, so that others can hear and be saved....

When I used to share with others about "receiving" the Lord, I used to tell them they had to confess there sins and invite Jesus in there heart too!
When I think about that, I realized that we can't confess every single sin we committed! That's impossible.
But to know that all our Lord asks us to do is believe on His DBR, that's easy. We don't have to worry about confessing our sin as we thought.
There are so many things I want to say, but I'm always afraid it's going to be off. Christine, if I do, I hope you would correct me.
I think that's why I don't post as much as I would love to.
Love,
Diana

Hey Diana,
Don't you be AFRAID to post here......If you cannot feel safe to share here, where can you share? Where can you ask questions if not here? You just post away, girl and don't let FEAR be a factor. This is a GRACE forum and we are all here to learn. If you say something OFF...so what?
? You have a lovely attitude and a teachable spirit...who could ask for more?
"God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of LOVE, power and a sound mind."
Post away, sweetie! This is YOUR forum! Huuuugs

You know I was thinking about this.
If all we have to do is Believe in the DBR of our Lord, then it's quite possible there could be alot of saved people because that's all they did! I'm thinking about those who were never told the false statements that Trent spoke of last week.
So for instance, someone who was brought up, say, a catholic, they were taugth about how Jesus died, was buried and rose again. If a catholic believed this as truth, even though the Gospel of grace hadn't been shared to them, are they still saved? Even though they're doctrine is different, some may believe.
Before Trents teaching and before I understood the Gospel of grace, I thought we all had to say the "sinners prayer" or whatever else we had to say or do, in order to be saved. And that all who didn't say or do those things were not saved.
What do you think?

Hi Diana,
You are right. Salvation requires only belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures"-1 Corinthians 15:1-4
The question concerning the Salvation event is this:
Has anything been added to the DBR of Jesus Christ? In other words, was there any other requirement according to the doctrine of the religion the person is involved in that adds to or subtracts from the Salvation event as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4?
Examples:
1. Were they told they also had to be water baptized, sprinkled, etc...?
2. Were they told they also had to follow the law, 10 commandments, etc...?
3. Were they told they also had to perform any ritual(s) before or after to prepare for or maintain their Salvation?
If there was any kind of an
"also"
added to the Salvation event then they have "...believed in vain..." as Paul said in v 2.
"Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."-Galatians 5:4
"I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."-Galatians 2:21
Any ritual, commandment, tradition, etc...that is added to the Salvation event makes it "... of no effect."
Diana, I've personally struggled with this thought for several years because my parents, my oldest brother and his wife, and several on my Dad's side of the family have added to what God says justifies us. They believe there is something they had to
"do"
to earn and maintain their Salvation throughout their lives. They still have the "yoke" around their necks and in effect have stated that the DBR of Jesus Christ was/is not enough. For a long time I hoped there was some "loophole" that might get them around this, but of course we don't "get around" what the Bible says.
I have to simply hope that the Holy Spirit will convict them of their error. I have to continue to talk to them...
and most importantly be an example to them
of what Christ would have us be. Just like the guys I work with, Diana. They're a rough bunch and most are drinkers, partiers, cussers, etc...with no regard for anything but self gratification. If I drink or use foul language, etc...with them then what kind of witness am I? If they see no difference in my talk and my walk I am making "the cross of no effect", and through my actions I am telling them that my self gratification is more important than my concern for their soul.
What do you think, Diana?

Hi Kab! i don't know what Diana thinks about it, but I for one, sure could NOT have said it better! We are NOT our own - we have been bought with a price! To do as they do, would make the cross of no effect! Once we profess Christ, we are ambassadors of Christ, yes? I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me! Very welll said!
